Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar is an autonomous Institute funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India. It was established as an outcome of
the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) of the accord on Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). The foundation stone of CIT Kokrajhar was laid down on February 10, 2003 by the Honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Sri Tarun Gogoi in the presence of the then Deputy Prime Minister, Sri L.K. Advani. CIT started its academic and administrative functions from December 06, 2006 in a temporary set up in the premises of Bodoland University. The Institute is run by an autonomous body registered with the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Institute is still in the extended project period under the Ministry of HRD.
